Product Description

MAX30102 High-Sensitivity Pulse Oximeter and Heart Rate Sensor

Integrated Biosensor Module for Wearable Health and Fitness Applications

The MAX30102 is a complete, integrated biosensor module from Analog Devices that combines pulse oximetry (SpO2) and heart rate (HR) monitoring in a single, tiny package. It integrates internal LEDs, photodetectors, optical elements, and low-noise electronics with ambient light rejection, making it a popular choice for wearable devices and fitness applications.

Integrated Heart Rate + SpO2 - Measures both pulse and blood oxygen saturation in one module.
UltraLow Power Design Operates with a lowpower heartrate monitor (<1mW) and ultra-low shutdown current (0.7µA typical).
Communication is via a standard I2C-compatible interface. The internal LEDs are powered separately from the core logic.
The module is incredibly tiny, measuring just 5.6mm x 3.3mm x 1.55mm in a 14-pin optical module.
This sensor shines both red (660nm) and infrared (880nm) light onto the skin and uses a photodetector to measure the reflected light, calculating heart rate and SpO2 from the changing light absorption of pulsating arterial blood.
