Working
A 5mm yellow LED emits yellow light when a forward voltage is applied. The semiconductor material within the LED produces light in the yellow wavelength range (approximately 590–600nm) due to electron-hole recombination.
Applications
- Indicator lights in electronics and appliances.
- Decorative and mood lighting applications.
- Used in traffic signal systems and caution indicators.
- Backlighting for displays and control panels.
- Safety indicators in automotive and industrial systems.
Specifications
- Forward Voltage: 2.0–2.2V
- Forward Current: 20mA (typical)
- Wavelength: 590–600nm
- Brightness: 500–1500 mcd
- Viewing Angle: 20–30 degrees
Pinout

The 5mm yellow LED has two pins:
- Anode (+): The longer pin, connected to the positive terminal of the power supply.
- Cathode (-): The shorter pin, connected to the ground (GND).
